​Do you love films? What are your favorite films up to these days? If you are a film lover, you can never ignore the popularity of Walt Disney. Probably the most influential person in the film industry there is. Who doesn’t know Walt Disney? However, did you know that there is also another person that shares the same spotlight as Walt Disney? The name is John Williams. In more than 6 decades, John Williams has made a name in the film industry.


Early Life of John Williams

John Williams was born on February 8, 1932 to Esther and Johnny Williams in Floral Park, New York. He was exposed to music at an early age and began studying piano when he was a child and then later on learned how to play the trumpet, trombone and clarinet. As a teen, Williams started to write music pieces. It was during 1948 when Williams studied music composition at the University of California. 
Williams worked as a Hollywood studio pianist for films like Some like It Hot and West Side Story. That was also the time when Williams started composing for television and writing songs. It was during the 1970s when Williams started to get popular because he composed music for big budget films – especially when Williams starts to work with Spielberg. His first project with Spielberg was the film The Sugarland Express in 1074 and that was the start of a long partnership between these two iconic people. 

Film Music of John Williams

Williams was the man behind the iconic music of some popular films such as Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, E.T. – The Extra Terrestrial, Star Wars just to name a few. In fact, Williams had won an Oscar for his musical arrangements. Williams is the second most nominated person in the film industry – next to Walt Disney. Walt Disney was the head of the studio and received nominations for each project while Williams received nominations for the work he has done personally – a whopping 49 nominations in total.

When you talk about Star Wars or Jurassic Park, you automatically think about the superb story line, cinematography and well known theme music to match the film. These films are popular but imagine these films without John Williams. These popular films and its perception to its viewers could be completely different from what it is today. These blockbuster movies are popular and John Williams has been one of the key ingredients to it.
Billions of people around the world are familiar with Williams’s music. His film score is like the Beatles are to the music world.  With William’s touch and music, a film becomes a masterpiece. Viewers are carried away with the film because of its story line along with the music plots too. Once a film has Williams as its film music composer, it becomes a memorable film and can capture the hearts of millions of viewers. We grew up with Williams’s music and we know these music by heart and that is what makes Williams influence our music in television and media.
